Vol.1, No.2 - March 2017

"It was one of those March days..."

The month of March is almost as busy as February at our libraries, and the return of Spring is a great excuse to continue checking out all the opportunities that we have to offer.

On Friday, March 3, we will host our third annual Local Authors Book Fair at the Brunswick-Glynn County Library during the Downtown Brunswick First Friday festivities. The theme of this year's fair is "A Book Tasting." Approximately 25 authors who write in a variety of genres will be on hand with copies of their books for purchase. Stop by during First Friday and discover the Golden Isles’ creative side!

Our March Featured Artist, Jess Austin, will also be at the Brunswick library for the opening of her exhibit. Jess is a macramé artist who grew up here in the Golden Isles. She creates fiber art with pops of color and a bohemian vibe. The exhibit may be viewed at the Brunswick-Glynn County Library and at the Saint Simons Island Public Library throughout the month.

Before we declare February officially done, however, we want to share a few moments that capture some of the excitement around our libraries and the community.

Public Library Day at the Capitol

On February 8, Brunswick-Glynn County Library Manager Lori Hull visited the State Capitol in Atlanta to represent our libraries at an event affectionately known as "Hot Dog Day." Public library staff from across Georgia serve our legislators Varsity hot dogs as we remind them about the important roles that libraries play in our communities. Pictured above, left to right, are State Librarian Julie Walker, State Representative Jeff Jones, and Lori Hull.
