The summer's almost over, but it's been a great one!! 

We've been staying busy at Art Sanctuary, and wanted you to have a few updates on where we're headed in these next few weeks. 

NEW BLOG POST: WHY CAN'T OUR (WHITE) SOCIETY HANDLE ANGER?
We're keeping the blog running with a new post from rising UArts senior, Maggie Lily! Please check out her newest on black anger and artistic expression at the link here. 
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 4: FREE FIRST SUNDAYS AT THE BARNES FOUNDATION 
The Barnes Foundation will be continuing their Free First Sundays, sponsored by PECO, on the 4th of September (the month's theme: art making.)  Tickets will be available at the front desk at noon under Art Sanctuary’s name. These tickets ensure our guests (you all!!) will have untimed access to the collection all afternoon. 

Make sure to come and see our executive director, Valerie Gay, talk with Danny Simmons before his exhibit comes to the gallery in the fall! 

Events for the day are as follows: 
1-3pm Display table for Colette Fu (paper arts) and Lynda Grace (fiber arts)
1-4pm Art See Activities (hands on art-making)
1:00-1:15pm Bharatanatyam (Indian Classical Dance) Performance, Roshni Tailor Nandi
1:15-2:00pm Loraine Ballard Morrill, Director of News and Community Affairs for iHeart Radio, leads a discussion around personal stories and artist expression with three local artist: Paper Arts, Colette Fu; Fiber Artist, Lynda Grace; and Dancer, Roshni Tailor Nadni.
3-4pm Join Art Sanctuary executive director Valerie Gay for a conversation with artist, poet and philanthropist Daniel "Danny" Simmons, Jr.
 

 
GALLERY NOTICE
Our gallery will be closed for the week of Monday, August 22nd as we prepare for our newest exhibit and as our staff takes a well-deserved vacation! For business inquiries and other questions during this time, please email us at info@artsanctuary.org. 
Our fill the gap campaign has ended, but the power of black art hasn't!!!
