Reliant Motor Club

“The Club for Owners and Enthusiasts of Britain’s finest specialist car manufacturer”

No 3. December 2016

100 members/ 350 Files

In our second newsletter last September we were delighted to announce that the club had reached 50 members in just two months.  We were therefore thrilled when on December 2nd David Dooley from the UK joined and became our 100th member. To celebrate David had his membership fee refunded. The RMC has continued to interest new members from around the world and, as Emil Baehr in Germany informed us, "The new club is beautiful,  living in Germany I have been unsure about joining a club  .... with your club my membership has immediate benefit being able to logon to your website and review the available resources."  Lance Pedwell in the UK also appears to be enjoying the club when he emailed us and said, "Long live the new RMC".

The RMC website has continued to grow and at this point it time now has just over 350 documents that RMC members can view.  We will continue to add files over the coming months to help build up the largest on-line Reliant Archive.  At the moment we have been concentrating on Brochures, Reliant Review newspapers and Handbooks although we have several other sections that are in the wings waiting to be finalised and uploaded.
Dan Clift (UK) has a passion for saving and restoring Regal 5cwt vans. This is just one of several vans that Dan has saved from the ravages of time.
Our first 100 Members
Browsing through the RMC database at our first 100 members and especially at the vehicles they own shows just how vast the Reliant range was.  Indeed, if we just take members, Dan Clift (UK), Barry Sweetman (Australia) and Tony Heath (UK), whose stories all appear in the first RMC magazine later this month, they alone own models that  include Regal 3/25 5cwt van, Supervan (II /III), MetroCab (GM powered), Sabra Prototype and a Sabre Six.  Models owned by other RMC members is amazingly diverse and pretty much covers 85% of the entire Reliant range in addition to several Reliant derivatives.  We hope all members are enjoying their membership and we would like to thank you for your support.   We also look forward to welcoming our next 100 members.

Supporting Reliant Clubs
One of the key aims of the RMC is to co-exist and work alongside other clubs and so we feel compelled to also thank the Reliant Sabre and Scimitar Owners Club, the Bug Club and the Kitten Register for all their encouragement and cooperation.
Tamworth Heritage Trust
The Reliant Motor Club is pleased to announce that we are now members of the Tamworth Heritage Trust. The Trust aims to record Tamworth's past, preserve the present and safeguard the future of Tamworth’s rich heritage; naturally the Reliant Motor Company is part of this history. The RMC will be working with the Trust on a number of projects that we hope will be beneficial to both the Heritage Trust and the RMC.
We have now compiled all articles for our first club magazine, the RELIANT MOTOR CLUB REVIEW which is now with our Editor and being put together.  Thank you to all those who have submitted articles for it.  We hope to have the magazine ready towards the end of December.  The magazine will contain a number of articles including exclusive interviews with ex-Reliant employees, Trident Motors Inc. and Microsoft.  This along with Member's Stories, Archive photos and  much more. RMC members will be emailed a link to the magazine when it becomes available.
