The approach of my book’s first birthday on 23 July, seems the ideal time to launch my Newsletter and thank you all for your support over my first year as a published novelist. Thanks especially to those who have posted an online review – such word-of-publicity makes a significant contribution towards counteracting the invisibility of small-press published authors.

Meanwhile, I’m extremely honoured to find my novel among the impressive reads longlisted for the Polari First Book Prize
For e-book readers, my publisher is marking my novel’s first birthday
with a 99p or equivalent Kindle promotion until 31 July

I've had fun getting out and about to meet readers. I’m hoping to meet more  soon ...

Waterstones York on 23 July
Bakewell Bookshop on 6 August
... but the scariest thing I’ve done all year was this interview for Bay TV Liverpool!
About Books - Episode 25 | Bay TV Liverpool
I am interviewed about Sugar and Snails by the lovely Mari Hughes-Edwards
for Bay TV Liverpool.

Meanwhile I'm continuing to write short fiction …

A  reminder that
most of my published short stories
are available to read
for free via my website,
including “A Daughter Your Age”
which won the
Writers’ Bureau Short Story Competition

And reading avidly …

I hope you'll want to stay subscribed for my next update in the autumn, when I'll have news about my second novel, Underneath, scheduled for publication in May 2017.
Do feel free to forward this newsletter to any of your contacts who might be interested –  but, if you do, take care to use "blind copy" (bcc) to avoid spam.
And if you received this indirectly, you can sign up for a copy of my next newsletter here.
